Smile B4 vs XXX-cr

Im in bit of a dilema. I currently race a B4 with great success, cant really fault it. But i also have a xxx-cr with loads of spares and really fancy the look of it as its just different. Although ive never run the xxx-cr it looks as if with the right set-up it could be as quick as my B4.

If you guys had to choose a car, which would you choose and why?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Well, the B4 is a tried and tested car, with lots of drivers and support, so it's a wise choice to keep that on the shelf no matter what you do

I currently race the XXX-CR in Norway, and I'm beating plenty of B4's, S2's, CR2's and Cougars with it. Of course, that is not just the car, but I have raced a B4 and a CR2 as well:P

The good part about the Losi is that it's extremely well suited to bumpy tracks.

It does lack some steering and the quick response of the B4, but with a few mods that is easily overcome. You need to use the old rear end, with means using the XXX-t Alu pivot block(losa4149), the old Graphite rear arms(losa9800) and the old rear hubs(losa2228). This makes the rear end feel a lot more with you, the car gets a more agressive point and shoot feel to it.

Other than this most team drivers also use the old bell crank steering setup that is included in the CR, it makes the steering more consistent. The rack can give more steering, but for me the bell crank makes for more even laptimes as the margins for error are bigger.

Another thing I have done, that I feel has helped the car tremendously, is using Ghea 56 pistons. It makes it so much more forgiving over bumps and holes, but still keeps the same pack feeling of the 56 pistons.

These changes and some practice will probably make you just about as fast as with the B4, although maybe not faster. But, if you usually have a crash or a flip during a 5-minute run, this car might help you. I feel it's a lot more forgiving than all other cars I've tried.

Thanks for your reply. I have now built my xxx-cr ready for our next WRCA round and am looking forward to trying it. I have ordered the parts for the rear end you listed above (Great help) and will see how it goes.

Also, is it worth getting the Ghea front brass bulkhead too, and also what is the ideal all up weight for the xxx-cr?

Thanks again,

Jamie....

I'm using the Losi aluminum pivot block up front, which I'm not sure if adds any weight at all I haven't tried the Ghea Pivot block, but that might work great.

For most tracks I have been running, I've played around a lot with adding weight around the servo. I've had up to over 100g around the servo just to see how it works, but I've ended up with around 75 grams for most tracks.
I use 30g under the servo horn, and 45g behind the servo, running a low profile servo.

Seems to be in the ball park of ideal added weight
