Ive a clay setup but am unsure what shocks were used when the driver beat Masami for the Japanese nationals. When you get the car made up i should have found the set up sheet and will update you but they did use kyosho shock oil.

Hello to everyone here.

Ema :Thank you for your kind words.Alfonso Lolli was kind enough to help us last year in Bologna. We had booked tickets for this year also but had some troublesome dentist operations that made me cancel. We still have open tickets left from that so let me know when there is a similar event. We might have something arranged.

Iso : Yes the main influence is the Skid Row band (you are from Sweden-we like Europe,H.E.A.T. ,Hardcore Superstar and the likes)

James:The main set up changes I can remember are front springs to black and going up in shock oil, that counting in Mr Ralls, yours and Simon's views. If there is something important I forget please add here so that all people racing Lazers in similar conditions can benefit.

As for the Lazer parts I was asked about:

ZXS front gearbox : James yes it can be made again. For the people that have not seen it,there were two incarnations made for James car.The first one had two separate plastic top parts and the second one a one piece alloy top part. The two lower parts are common for both types. I hope James posts some pics of it as I am off base right now so that you can see for the amount of work it takes to make them for yourselves.

ZXS rear lower gearbox parts can be done .Pm sent to James and Iso.Anyone else interested,pm me.

ZXS-Evo kick up plate can be made .Pm sent to Iso.

I think the brass weight on the front will make the car nose dive more than it already does. The rear gearbox sides in brass may be a better idea than alloy if Manolis can do.

Couple of quick questions guys.

How much lateral play is the top shaft supposed to have when assembled with the ZX-R slipper assembly with the slipper pads (no double one way on the top shaft, just the one way for the front belt on the top shaft)? I seem to have a little more than 1mm lateral play from the entire assembly. The top shaft bearings are sliding that much in the transmission housing. If possible, could someone take a picture of a "correctly" assembled top shaft? I'd really appreciate it! I have finally got a little time today to go through it since the last time I ran it (after I completely disassembled it of course...) and I can't remember how I had it together... Thanks in advance!

Edit: Does anyone know who made this top shaft? Is it a Lazer piece or for one of the TF-series touring cars? Thanks

Iso,

no the screw that goes through the shock tower at the top and a nut bolts it to the tower and then there are plastic cups that cover the nut and when the top of the shock is mounted the look is much better. Imagine a mug with no handle and a hole at the bottom and thats what im after to cover the nut.

I had the same problem and solved with different shims configuration.
I checked everything multiple times and my conclusion is that if you mount the top shaft assembly as per instructions you have that play.

If you follow the instructions you will have play. I ended up by using a ball bearing in place of the rather large alloy washer in the centre and this got rid of all slop and minimised the belt from shredding by quite some time. This was with the hyper and standard layshafts.

Sorted. It will standout, just take your time cutting the gear cover hole as you dont want to ruin it
