Hi Iso/James, you don't have to be mad to love the Lazer but it helps!

I've just got the last part to bring an Optima Mid back to life now so I think I qualify as being insane about old Kyosho's too

We'll be running another vintage series at Caldicot this winter so it'll be racing again too!

Hi Pete thanks for the easy buy and looking forward to see them ...
I will post some pictures of them on the car it should be looking really good.

And it really helps to be a bit mad to love lazers.

Pete,

I know your just as crazy as me with these cars and like you enjoy racing these cars for fun and couldnt care less where i come. The last vintage event was brilliant fun and laughed quite a lot whilst racing with you, Dave and Matt and im going to try to persuade my wife to let me do several vintage races this year. Ive evan got a 13.5 as well to make it more fair.

Won't be until the winter, but I'll post the dates up when we're ready to go.

As Balders was running a 6.5/7.5? last year and Andy was running an 8.5 in his Thundershot I wouldn't worry about the motors!
Mind you, if you're worried about breaking your fragile elderly car I can understand

Fragile it isnt as hitting an iron chair leg whilst doing 30mph down the straight only bent the shock shaft so impressed me. Im going to work out how to post on u tube the video.

Iso great news as itll look great on my car with a carbon fibre shock tower mount as well making the rear end gearbox almost totally CF

Im still seriously tempted on an identical to the original front five pieces of the gearbox in alloy and also identical rear gearbox plastic sides in alloy. How much for that as well?

Yeah the rear gearbox sides in alu would be great i think that couldnt be that hard compared to the front 5 piece design gearbox the rear gearbox should be easy.

Btw i got some white machined arms coming my way will post picture later.

Well ive finally managed to download a race video and this is the worst race i had so apologies for my bad driving. I will upload another where it was better tonight. Lap three my car died and took me 35 seconds to get it working and then drove like a retard to get the lead back which i did manage, still you should notice me hitting the metal chair leg and no damage to the gearbix or wishbones. Only the front shock shaft bent slightly so shows my development is working well. Several laps were 5 seconds and believe with a bit more work i could make it a bit quicker. Im doing another club in the next two weeks with jumps and will post that as well.

Welsh yes white machined whisbones......

will post some pics later...when i recive them ...

Not the most challeging track but hey anything for som action....but the camerman got a bit out of focus in the end.

youre car rolled like an donut after the hit.

When you drive indoors you use the schumacher mini pin ??? do keep the pins or do you cut them down so they are like slicks...(bald)

I used schumacher yellow mini spikes uncut. I will use mini pins uncut as well once ive got the weight placement correct.

It spun a few times but the race was a bit caotic as i was seven laps down but the car gripped well on corners and showed how far ive come. Its starting to feel like fun driving this again but im still two laps down so still needs a few mods to catch up properly. Out of focus yes but got what i wanted and you tube does compress this quite a bit so lacks quality. It was a hard hit on the chair.

I cant wait to see the wishbones as my car uses white plastics except for the hubs and wishbones and would look nice totally white. Are they the zx ones as the design is stronger.

I sended the zxr arms and they have copied them and machined them but i have no clue what they wil look like except white i have seen other arms that they have made and they look good.

The best thing with having them custom made its so easy to change the looks of the wishbone since its more expensive to remove more material they can be made just plain white with just holes for the pivot pins and srew holes for the shocks.

I have paid for them and since i just got 1 set with four whisbone ( 2 front and 2 rear ) they where 75$ incl shipment and if order more they would be cheaper. Totally worth it

Welsh youre car looked totaly planted in the corners and acceleration was awsome. Looking even more forward to finish mine.

Cheers mate, its getting there and isn't up to my standards yet but as I stated previously I cant take all the credit.

Im no expert in setting up my 4wds (ok I am quite good with 2wd) and tend to rely on the top drivers to give me a good setup and I just drive the car to the limits that I can take it.

Well Dan Greenwood (X factory driver) did have a look at it and even though I was not the most polite with him due to being quite unwell at the time with my Kidney issues his ideas on the front of the car were almost spot on and the rear end his ideas were not all there but with a little trial and error I am getting the hang of it slowly. Still cant fault Dan for his help on getting this half decent.

Now to see how good it goes with new mini pins once I have sorted the overall balance of the car. I am awaiting a brass lipo tray and if lucky a brass top deck rear mount which should balance the rear end better than any other idea I have had.

More videos to come.

So you have the single piece chassis then as the losi shocks didnt come with the three piece chassis with the kick up plate. Kyosho shocks did and is stated in the manual.

Nope i have the three piece but i dont think they can be all wrong since Joel johnosson when hi place his ZXR in in the final at basildon used losi shocks and green front pink rear springs.

The zxs singel piece used green front and pink rears so it cant be all wrong .....
