Default Moving forward with the 1:18 class

I think we'll all agree that the 1:18 class has been a great success so far this year for the club, helping to grow the membership too. Now that we are coming to the end of the Championships I think it is the right time to reflect on the way we order the class as at present I think it is fair to say that we've generally let people run what ever they currently have.

Therefore I'd like some thoughts from all the 1:18 drivers as to what kind of rules we should look at introducing in terms of motor limitiations, weight and ground clearance, size of rear wings etc.

Having got my BRCA manual today I was looking at some of the rules they are running at national level. They say that in 2WD that 1:10th wheels are not permitted. There's no similar mention of that for 4WD and to be honest I think everyone is in agreement that the 1:10 size wheels are the best way forward for the cars at our club so I'm happy to run with that.

There is no limit on brushless motors, only on the physical size of the can and there are also maximum wheelbase and width measurements that we may want to introduce as they are items which can be quickly checked.

There is no mention of a minimum weight although they do say that their should be a minimum ride height of 5mm like with the Touring Cars.

Food for thought, feel free to add anything guys...

What do you all think about grading drivers into 3 formulas now we have so many as currently we just have F1 and F2 drivers?

I am sure a few of us suggested that you should look to what the BRCA micro class were doing when you started micro's at your club but you said we had nothing useful to add and deleted our posts. Never mind, glad it's working for you there, I might pop along one evening and join the fun

The BRCA micro EGM is taking place on April 11th so less than a month away. You might want to either join us (all are welcome) or wait for the new season's rules before implementing the current rules as there will hopefully be a few changes for the better of the sport.

I know one of the rules being proposed would definitely help you achieve some of your earlier objectives which was to keep the class cheap to run and competitive for those with RTR cars.

Do you know how quick they would publish rules as we start our next Championship a few weeks later after that meeting?

I'd be interested to know about the proposal for cheap and fun racing, feel free to PM me the idea if you can't go public with the ideas just yet.
