Default Standard or turbo plugs

Hi there,
i'm new to this site and fairly green in the nitro world. I hope none of you mind i posted a similar question on another site but had very little response.
Within the next couple of days i should be receiving a Novarossi .21 Plus-4. I'm fairly certain the one i will be getting has the option of running turbo or standard plugs, as it has the two types of buttons in the box. My question is which is best? i've been told that turbo shortens the life of the engine. Is this true?
All advice and help gratefully received.
Many thanks
John

you cant run turbo plugs in a standard engine, you need to have a turbo head fitted, think i gave you the same reply on the other forum too, std plugs dont fitt a turbo head ether,

@bigred5765-i dont want to sound rude but maybe my fault if you didn't understand my question. The engine i'm getting has the two heads in the box, i just have to pick which one i use.

Think it is just to do with the shape normal plugs are flat and will require a washer. Turbo plugs are coned slightly and create there own natural seal. The button obviously will need changed out depending on which is used. I don't beleive that turbo plugs shorten the life of the engine. Hope that helps.

Novarossi's come pre-tuned ready to run in, and require very little leaning out through the running in process to be singing on top-note, and perform amazing when at top-note.

Therefore - whatever is on the engine from the factory, is what I would start with and intend to continue with. Changing to Turbo head may make it harder to find the peak performance.

I have a Novarossi NN21R and Plus-4c, and the above is what I have done. I haven't even changed venturies - just trust the factory settings. They're bleedin' awesome engines.

The Turbo headed version will be slightly harder to tune but the performance gains could be worth it for you.

Honestly though I am over the moon with my Plus 4 using the standard plug, the easiest engine I have ever broken in, tuned and performs extremely well.

definatly dont reduce engine life, personally i find a turbo plugged engine easier to tune as the seal is better in the button

glow plugs are available in turbo and standard versions. The main difference being the turbo plug seals at the bottom of the plug instead of at the gasket. This seal takes the threads out of the combustion chamber volume thereby improving performance. The turbo plug design offers a greater choice of thermal characteristics, thereby a greater degree of optimization can be obtained in the configuration.
