I did a 12 month graphics course at college where we used macs. They where constantly slow and annoying. Some days they just wouldnt work at all.

The pc's where the usual things you find in a college etc but the macs where just slow slow slow. Persoanlly i dont see the point in spending 1000 to 1500 pound on a mac for a few shiny buttons when i can spend half the money have something that performes just aswell if not better.

can't resist anymore

linux is software and if you are comparing against OSX in terms of price they're not too far apart. Snow Leopard being a pocket money £25. Sure you can download Linux for free, but I do remember SuSE and redhat being in the shops and they were more than that. Both OSX and Linux aren't supported as well as Windows is by 3rd parties. You only have to look at games today and you see "Games for windows" or something of the like along the top.

If you are comparing hardware then I think it's very much down to the individual. If you want a unibody laptop with a gorgeous screen... (goes into lines of lovelyness) you get the point. then you pay the price. If you want a plastic body with screws showing and a clunky pop out CD rom and a tiny little trackpad (again you get the point) then you pay that price.

Almost like why would someone buy a Durango over a B44.

I think this is pretty much what it boils down to these days, Apple stuff in general is really nicely made - but you pay for it.

Mac OS is nothing special in my (brief) experience, seems just like a slightly tarted up Linux distro
