That’s not strictly true there sosidge…

The +1 number will either be the number you requested via the cloning process OR one of a number of set numbers supplied by MRT. This is independent of the 1-20 common numbers in all of them. If the +1 number is not a cloned number then it will not be unique. MRT only have a limited number to choose from when assigning the custom numbers. I spoke to Terry and Clive from MRT about this after we had 2 people try to book in with the same PTX number a couple of months back.

As you say, when it happens you just have to switch to one of the 20 common numbers. Not a big deal really

Regards,
Jon.

Sorry, I had no idea they also do this.

I have to say it makes no sense whatsoever. Why let someone choose a non-unique "custom" number when the transponder already has 20 non-unique numbers? It just causes problems trackside, as proven above.

the twenty numbers are not Unique, as they are the same 20 numbers on each PT, the +C offers the chance of being almost 'unique' but there is a chance, and a random one, that you can be racing with someone who has that same +C number.

Exactly right DCM - and exactly what I wrote.

MRT-supplied numbers are all non-unique. So what is the point in offering 21 of them instead of just 20, especially when the purchaser is under the impression that his +1 "non-unique" number is "a-little-bit-more-unique-but-oops-not-unique-enough-to-stop-me-having-a-clash" than the other 20?

I must say, I still appreciate your dedication to replying to everything that I write with a little added irrelevant detail. It makes me feel very special. Perhaps one day my intellect and experience will be a match for yours

No, oddly enough, I'm pretty sure I know what I did.

I bought an MRT PTX which has 20 numbers that are based off AMB numbers that MRT bought, plus one extra number, presumeably from a few more, that are not common to other PTXs, though there is the possibility of two having the same number, hence the clash that I mentioned earlier.

In fairness to DCM, he was only reiterating what 3 people had already told you, as you didn't seem as though you wanted to take it in the first two times.

Mr Sosidge actually thinks, that he is that important, that I follow him around and try to contradict him at every turn..... might be he has delusions of grandeur, as really, I couldn't give two hoots, but he can have his thoughts.

I'm looking forward to your new non-contradiction policy. It'll make a change.

I particularly liked I when you told me to feck off instead!

Hi Marvin,

I did apologise for my misunderstanding, I hope you will accept that.

For some reason DCM followed up my apology with a restatement of what I had already agreed was true. Perhaps he was composing his own answer while I submitted mine. I accept that, as he says, he has no intention of deliberately contradicting my posts in an attempt to appear more knowledgeable.

S.
