how do i save youtube videos?

I use ..

Free studio manager 4.1.1.1 - This has allsorts you can do from MP3 downloads from Youtube (Backing audio from any videos on the site) to saving the videos in any format i beleive too..

VLC media player will play em (will on my machine), will play most formats and has other options, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ a free programme

or you can download using keepvid as MP4 should be better quality but possibly more difficult to find a player, tho VLC again......

Media Player Classic, also hits most formats

if you use firefox get the downloadhelper plug in for it, thatll grab any video. i use a program called simply 'flvplayer' which works fine

I use keepvid.com and play using VLC player too.

Last time I used keepvid, it was a bit poor IMO. Try googling tubegrip, worked for me ;-)
