Default Nimh charging Bantam BC6

Dong my first nimh charge for a year and totally forgotten how it's meant to go!

Charging on a BC6 at 3A, it's an Orion rocket 5100. Have put it on charge and it's at 8.5v under charge, and the charger keeps dropping to 0A then back up. Is that normal? And what's the terminal voltage on 6 cell nimh, totally forgotten!

Yes it's normal. I'm pretty sure that the terminal voltage is 1.8V, but they won't necessarily reach that.
