might want to see the Tekin forum, I am sure there are some trying it on there.

I am dutch-speaking so my English is not always 100% (to say the least
) so the manual is not always cristal to meCan someone explain me the following: (talking about setting up my RS PRO) Do I understand it correctly that CURRENT LIMITER means that one can tune the amount of increase of "juice" over time that the ESC passes through to the motor? So with -when hitting the throttle-trigger hard- a low value for Current limiter and giving full throttle, the motor will go to max revs but with a slow increase, as if one would slowly squeese the throttle-trigger. With a high (max, 12) value, the throttle will go from 0 till 100 as fast as the ESC can deliver. Is this correct? If so, this setting can be used as a kind of "slipper"-function, or in slippery conditions, to minimise the wheeling of the tires. Is this also correct? But then again, such a function is dealt with throught the THROTTLE PROFILES, no? OR is Current limiter simply a limiter on the maximum of amps the ESC will give the motor, so with a low value, one would get a lower topspeed then with a maximum value? thx in advance. |

You are correct. The current limiter limits the amount of power during the initial throttle applications. It does NOT limit top speed. So if traction is down and you want to help prevent wheel slip this can help.

Losi XXCR is running Trakpower 3600s and the Cat will run an Orion 4800 and TP 3600s (may get some more 4800s) Would the brakes up to 100% on the XXCR and they seem better, but will only really know once I've done a practice etc. Fingers crossed. Love the Tekin in the Cat SX fits so nicely (much neater than the LRP Sphere TC that it's replaced.) |

I run all my Tekin units with a NW of 8 (1&2 LED on)

How warm would you expec the ESC to get in a Cat SX with a 7.5 Losi motor? Mine's running the standard spur and 23 pinon

i run my sx on an 81 spur 23 pinnion on the faster internal ratio on fresh grass on a tekin rs pro in dual mode with no issues whatsoever its never temp out the motor gets a little warm but nothing to worry about the motor is a speed passion v2 6.5 the only time my esc has ever tempted i ran a gm 7t delta on wet grass in sensored only mode it tempt at about 4 mins i ran 83/23 with faster internal. if your motor is getting very hot it maybe faulty.

The motor gets too hot to touch it for long. The car hasn't stopped due to temps so it ran fine.
Think I'll check the set-up on the Tekin. I think I set it up for dual mode with the following BS-100 NW-8 TP-3 MT-1 (Brushless fwd/brk) Timing-80 Limiter-90 What would a fault capacitor on the ESC do? |

I've shrink wrapped the posts to protect from shorts. If there isn't much wrong I'll have to put some holes in my Cat SX shell

I'd suggest removing the shrink wrap, the posts are the only way for the heat for dissipate. As for shorts, never happened to me, or anyone I know.

Ok I'll look at that they are shrink wrapped on my XXCR with no issues. This still wouldn't explain a hot motor? ![]() Shame you can't do logging to pull off onto the laptop after a run. Had no probs with the car, just don't want to break anything.. |

Didn't take not I'm afraid, only realised after getting home about the LEDs. Car never cut out, just very warm. I'll have to try and simulate the car somehow and then check.

if the motor is getting warm, but the esc isn't, you would have to check your gearing, and maybe get some cooling holes for the motor.

The ESC was pretty warm too, but I'm used to the fan on my LRP Sphere. How warm would you expect the ESC to be?
It wasn't hot with the LRP.. That's why I am a little confused. Going to check the correct FDR for the Cat SX. It's a standard phil booth car with a 23 tooth pinion Didn't think the 7.5 was that hot a motor. The same model ESC / cells are used in my XXCR with a 7.5 LRP and a FDR of 9.4 There aren't any cooling options with the Losi unlike the LRP

you could just be driving it a lot harder, and have room to go up a wind, but with the adjustable internal ration, you could be over geared too.

I have started to push it harder as I learn more about the car. Just don't want to damage what is now £700 worth of car. Ref the heatshrink is that an issue as shown by my picture above? Cheers for the help otherwise.. |
