Default Mobile with proper internet and email

I'm after a new mobile that has proper internet access and email, what are my options?

I'm with O2 at the moment, and will be staying with them too

Cheers,

G

iPhone sucks but its the only option on O2 since they drop everything thats even close to beating the iPhone for features.

I have an LG KU990 with O2. £15pm 100mins talk unltd txt. Internet is £1per day no matter how many times you use it. Never actually tried it. Battery power is not that good really if you use the 5m mp camera. Its useless in bright sunlight cant see the screen at all.

I've got a Nokia 5800,its touch screen like the iphone. its wireless and 3.5G. oople loads in less than 3 seconds! got a refurb from o2 and get 600 mins, 1000 texts and unlimited interenet for £20 a month, 18 month contract. the phone was in mint condition as they replace the outer shell and screen.

personally i would recommend in no order at all,

i phone
blackberry bold (9000)

for email i prefer and use the blackberry, primarily because i find the i phone keyboard to slow to use, and that was with a lot of practice

for internet the i phone is tops for me again the onscreen keyboard i still believe to be an issue, although when running opera mini the blackberry usability is enhanced

i wouldnt recommend the xda range or any windows mobile handset myself they are generally slow and prone to crashing

5800 touch screen i would use a large pole to push away, slow prone to software failure, horrific rate of customer faulty returns and the touchscreen is pretty poor.

also to the poster above, consider that 1 pound a day internet results in a 30 pound a month charge if you use it daily, seriously that is bad value, for a fiver a month you could get unlimited net instead

Default phones

Palm Pre is coming to O2 soon, supposed to be very good but brand new software (buggy?) and not too many 3rd part apps at the moment.

The iPhone is the dogs dangly bits and speaks for itself.

I've had a number of HTC phones (T-Mobile MDA's, O2 XDA's) and I found their browsers are really slow and clunky although the email worked well....

I have had nokia phones for the 10 years or so and have just moved onto the Iphone which I love , I respond to emails via my phone for work , the Internet is realy fast compared to my n96 and the aps are fantastic . Defernetly made the right move and will not be going back to nokia any time soon. P.s my buisness partner has just got the new nokia n97 , he hates it , the battey life is rubbish and the phone is very slow and keeps crashing !

It makes me laugh when people slag the iphone off ! really ! i mean look at the phones before the iphone they were stone age. Apples first phone (2g) was about 3 years ahead of its time. Its only now that phone are coming close to the iphone and thats 2 and a bit years on and they are all copies of the iphone. Hardware wise there is other phones that beat the iphone but its not all about hardware anymore as they all have good hardware. Its all about software and its user experience. A phone can have all the boxes ticked (GPS , 3g etc) but if its frustrating experience you end up just puting it down. The iphone is sooooo easy to use. As for browsing there is NOTHING that comes close to the iphone end off. That said there is other phones that comes close ish to the iphone 3gs and it is the HTC Hero (G2) which is an Android (Google OS) based phone.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/23/htc-hero-review/

The other is a Palm Pre which is not out yet but will be on 02 soon but again it is not as good as the iphone 3gs

At the end of the day the iphone has a APP store with 55,000 apps to pick from

I'm a Nokia fan. Have moved away in the past, but always seem to end up back with them.
When my contract was up last time, i had a look at available phones that would more enhance the Internet, E-Mail etc etc. I ended up at a Nokia E71. Yes, there were Blackberry's and the i Phone etc, but some were well out of what i would class a proper amount of money each month. Bear in mind though that i have to get 2, 1 for me, 1 for the wife.
It also meant i left O2, who i'd been with for years, to go to 3.
All in all i've had a good time and recommend the phone to people without hesitation.
When this contract is up, i may well move away from Nokia, to try something else again, but hey, by that time, they might have an i phone killer

The I phone was many years behind the time when it launched, processor speed was slow, camera quality was shocking yet still people bought it! but marketing and hype can convince people of anything, but hey ho.
I would like to say i have used all of the phones currently on sale with the exception of the palm pre, the E71 is not bad but is really just a blackberry clone and the software as with all nokia E series and N series handsets really is toilet.
If northy hadn't said he wanted to stay with o2 i would have suggested the G2, HTC magic (same handset) as in all fairness the net connection is faster than the 3GS in real life usuage primarily down to O2's poor support of their 3G network. Page load times on the I phone are slower than the G2. On screen keyboard function is identical to I phone and the zoom function has been updated to the fore finger and thumb pull push.
Its always personal choice but all i can suggest really is to try each of the phones yourself and see what you think, all phone retailers have live demo's to try. Just remember o2 stores have a 3G booster in the stockroom to make sure the phones will always have good 3G reception inside the store.

I really can’t think of a cell phone that is worth diving into a shitter hole to retrieve. Wonder if the chick dropped it in or if this dude just forced her to be the gopher. Only in Russia.
