My genertaor only cost me £30 new, runs like a dream, had it neally two years now without any bother! 5 quid of fuel will get you two days power out of it!

Dont have to worry about it going flat, our remembering to charge it before the weekend,it may be a continous cost but whats £5 for fuel every meeting?

Right so i've ordered a 85ah leisure battery off ebay for £40. Next question is do I need to take the banana connectors off my bantam and replace with crocodile clips? or can you get some kind of adaptor or bodge it somehow so you don't have to take the banana connectors off?

I just ordered an 8amp cigarette lighter plug with wire from RS components to hook into my cars accessory sockets. Plan to use traxxas connectors to hook in into my BC6.

For me the hassle of owning a separate leisure battery far outweighs the benefits. I also don't see how using the car battery is any worse for it than general day to day use in the car. Can someone please explain the physics of that claim?

When Your Car Is Running Your Car's Alternater Is Running Aswell Keeping The Battery Well Above Half Charged Also Car Batterys (real Lead Acids) Arn't suppost to go flat as this damages the internal cells (Like Running A Lipo Flat But Not That Bad )

Just My Advice I Wouldnt Risk Using A Cig Lighter To Power Your Charger is It Worth Risking It And Blowing A Fuse Or Even Worse Melting Somthing

Hope This Helps
John

I only race outdoors occasionally, and only recently started to, but I don't charge off the battery in my car, as for me I'd rather not risk my car not starting to get me home, so I use a separate cheap car battery to do my charging.

When I bought it I did notice that car batteries vary quite a lot in capacity, the cheap ones being quite a lot lower obviously, and they do degrade over time, if your going down this route it may be worth making sure the battery in your car is a high capacity one and in good condition.

The cheap one I run is still pretty new and does significantly discharge over a days racing/charging, but so far not low enough to damage it.

If you only have a small battery it could be worth upgrading it to cope with starting your car after a days charging! A car engine takes a short but BIG load off the battery to get your engine running.

I believe the BC6 does a voltage check on the incoming 12v supply and won't charge if the supply battery is too low, I'd assume that voltage is set to protect the supply battery from over discharging and isn't set to keep enough voltage to start a car!

Last thought if you go down that route...get some jump leads just in case...at least there are many people at races with alternative batteries to get you started in an emergency!!!
