Question Different Driving Styles 2wd to 4wd

Hi being quite new to this Buggy Stuff i was wondering what the main difference in driving Style Set up are between the 2 classes i realise they are totaly different???????

Having Raced 4wd Touring Cars for the past 7 years when i got a 4wd Buggy XX4 i took to it quite quickly and i am happy with my driving of this Class........ But when i found out i would not be in the contry for 2 of the 4wd regonals i thought i would get a 2wd and compete in this class also but having driven my X6 for a couple of heats last weenend it seems i may not be cut out for this 2wd class!!!!!!!!!!

The 2wd Buggy X6 seemed to turn in far to sharply and was very twithcy on the steering ........

Do i need to reduce my steering end points so the wheels can not travel to full lock or do i need to slow the steering down on my trani

Any help would be much appertiated

Thanks

The main differences that I noticed were that you could be much harsher (and needed to be) with the 4WD - keep power on later into corners and put power on earlier. From what I've been told, on high grip tracks the X6 is very much like a 4WD car, but is not too clever on slippy bits. If the car is too twitchy, I'd maybe think about a slower servo and less steering (end-point like you said) Chris Long and Super_Dan are best suited to this question as they both are factory X6 drivers, but that's my advice for what it's worth!!

You need to determine what you mean by twitchy. Does the front end have too much grip or the rear too little?

The XX4(& X-5) handles like a hovercraft, compared to any other buggy whether 2wd/4wd. It just soaks up the bumps, jumps and will corner however you want it to, drive like you stole it and it'll feel like it can go faster.

Whereas with 2wd, this is not the case. G has asked the right question already, it might just be a case of fine tuning the setup and you practicing with it to get the feel for it.

Sounds like your setup is wrong or your tyres have too much traction, id go for the latter. You can't drive a 2wd like a 4wd, the more you drive it the more ull realise you cant push a 2wd like a 4wd.

Post your set-up for us in the X-Factory area and we can suggest a few things you can try.
