I have a servo here (KO PDS-2143) that the ears have broken off, and a new case. Now I know I could replace just the top part with the ears on but would like to replace the whole lot to make it look new again

The whole gubbins should slide, with a little car, I don't actualy think it is physicaly secured in place.

To replace the middle bit you need to do a bit of de soldering (For KO servo's at least). The position sensor is screwed to the middle bit of the case but you cant access the screws without de soldering the the three sensor legs to remove the PCB.
Just de solder the three large pads next to the input cable connections then the PCB will move out of the way. I can post some pics of a stripped down servo if that would help. |

I did a couple a while back, you do need to desolder, but be very careful not to pull the endbell off the motor, it doesn't take much
![]() The guts are a tight fit, but will come out with gentle persuasion.

Heres a pic.
The sensor is shown removed from the board, it is held in the case by the bracket shown to its right You dont have to remove the motor, like Oscar says, be gentle with the motor while it is attatched to the board or it will come off, re fitting the motor endbell is fiddly. Hope this helps. servo.jpg |

So I need to desolder the pot sensor, but not the motor?

Exactly, just three pads.

Sorry, yeah, no need to de solder the actual motor, but the endbell falls off real easy, especially with the extra leverage of the board attached.
