Lee re-read what I put and what Nick has started out with then, I am not being negative at all.............

Nick has started out by saying that "the interest for the track has died off" (I assume he means by racers, lack of meetings etc) I have stated that two meetings were on the calendar for this year for the taking but not wanted/not able (I did put NOT ABLE if you check what I put, since I do understand how much racing you do personnally Lee)

BUT would I be right in one thing, if the boys are "rightly so" trying to save a great track, then surely that would be so it could be used....for meetings. If it is "saved" (so to speak) then would the meetings actually run on it, my point being two were offered for this year but declined (we ended up running the first one at Watford, which had 70 racers, so numbers were good, the second is now at Newbury later in the year)

Again if you read what I have put I have not knocked the track in any way, my actual comment was "The venue is a good facilty allround but only if they are "able" and "want" to run meetings there....." that is not knocking it but in fact praising it.

If the track is dependant on you being there to run it Lee then it is fair to say it is just not viable to continue while you are racing at the level you are, if however it can run with a "team" behind it to do the prep work, managing the club and the admin side (like Trish/John Cockill did for the regionals last year) then that is different altogether.

Dont forget lads, my income and livelyhood relies on model car racing, so I want to see as many tracks as we can squeeze in the country and as many racers as possible enjoying our hobby, if there is no racing then I have no customers.....

As for last weekends track and its readiness I am not in a position to comment since I was not there, but you will always get the "it was the same for everyone, level playing field" and "dont knock those who put the effort in" replies and equally the "it should be to a certain standard" "this is the highest level of our sport, we deserve to have the best" ones too, I'll leave that debate for the Taly thread.....

Isn't there something in the rules about a track having to prove it runs a big meeting before being given a national? I know Lee's track hasn't met this yet, but neither has the Tally track, this was it's first meeting wasn;t it in the new location, and last year was it's first ever?
It will be a shame to lose a great track, but for once Darren does have an almost legitimate point in that if no meetings are planned to run there it will be hard to make a case for it. It certainly helped in my decision to run in a different region this year.

I thought Trish and Co did an OK job of running things last year. The track requires little work as long as it is dry weather. It's just the race control side of things that need organising which John Cockill usually does very smoothly.

I hope you find a way to keep it running

it goes to Lees motivation for hosting meetings when he has been turned down for major meetings in favour of other 'non-proven' tracks. especially when the other tracks aren't up to the same raceable standard. (not trying to take anything away from your efforts Chris as Taly has great potential)

But Lee invested a large amount of money to make one of the tracks in the country, then can't get any meetings approved there.

that still has nothing to do with tally what CML can or cant get ' non -proven' or not

PW said the track was fine before both days to me personly , any issues like the track marking where addressed as asked on the day - we where never asked by the drivers rep or head of the B.R.C.A to fix the bumps on the straight

obvoiusly we know we need to lol

but as a club we did every thing we where asked to do by the body that runs the events

Its not only the money that went into the track and its not all about getting a national, there were many hours put into building and maintaining the track and It would be a shame to see every ones efforts go to waist. As I think we all enjoyed racing there.
I think you will all agree that on a sunny day the track is superb. I plan to go up and do some grass cutting and getting it nice again but any help will be welcome.

Going back to Nicks First message It will be great to see people helping out in an effort to make use of a great facility as If something is sorted out then we can all enjoy it.

I think that you may be taking the fact that CML Raceway did not get a national personally, which is understandable but probably wrong. There is something in the process of awarding nationals that says tracks need to be easily accessible from major roads, with camping facilities and near to local hotels etc. I can't remember the exact wording of that section, but I know it's there.

Now, I have not been to CML Raceway. I don't know the locality of the track either, but looking on Google Earth the track looks a little isolated and appears not to be near facilities such as hotels etc., so maybe that is why the track is not awarded Nationals? From what I have seen of the track on this forum, it certainly looks exceptional so I am quite sure it's not the standard of the track that is the problem.

Have you approached the BRCA and asked wy your track is not picked for Nationals?

The track has a lot of land surrounding it and could host a very large meeting!

The Track is 20mins from the M4 and the back roads are only journeyed on for at most 5mins from there!

Hotels are available very near to the track location as Newbury Town is only 10mins from the location and there are many accomodations there!

lets stop talking about negative points and work towards the 'Team CML RW'

Im not worried about reasons for having a national or not as that would be for another thread. This thread is about support for the Track so lets support it

I've only been to the track once and didn't have a great day, but that was nothing at all to do with the track or organisers.

I enjoyed the track and the meeting ran very well so to my mind it would be a real shame to see it go.

Best of luck with it guys, if wish I was in a position to help.

CML is one of the best tracks in the UK and if they want to hold a National we should have one.

Where else in the country do we have a bus as a rostrum!!!!

Hotel's are not a problem as there loads in the area and you could just camp. Access can not be any worse than other Nationals.

Basingstoke is an incredible night out (trust me)

Yeah, right!

Would be a laugh with a bunch of racers though.

I think we need to organise some working days on Saturdays.

The track at CML looks awsome and i think it would be an awsome track for a national. Now conserning nationals there are lots of points to consider when hoping to hold a national.

The rostrum is awsome but can i ask a few questions that might help imporve the track just to boost it up to national level:

How many sets of steps does the bus have to the top deck???

What are the toilets like? Are there any other than lee's house?

How many people will there be who are able to help that arent racing?

You need alot of people to scruiter cars make sure the BRCA official are feed and watered.

Make sure if there is a problem with the track a team can run on fix the track in as short a time as possible to reduce distruption to the time table.

I wish everyone at CML the best of luck tidying the track its amazing what a diffrence it makes the the apreance of a track ide love to race on it and i would come to help if i was closer but unfortuanstly its a bit of a distance for me.

All is in place for a big meeting if it is given a National or a international

the people will be there to support the track.

This has never been the problem the track and all its faciltys can be put in place.

The powers that be are not keen to let this track have a big meeting in the end people just gave up.

Now it might be a differant story will help when I can Lee you now that back you CML and Tony PDA all I can
