Default Trakpower 4900 Stick Packs

Hi,

I've got a couple of these packs, product code [TP49002S] with clear plastic seal intact but no BRCA (or EFRA) stickers....

Are these BRCA legal, the product code is the same as on the BRCA list?

Thanks

Martin

Ok, so I'm trying not to jump the gun here but assuming the glued case is the only difference, how can a glued case be an issue if the shrink wrap is still intact?

the eb felt if the end user (you) were to remove the heat shrink then the case can be opened, with a glued pack you have to destroy the case to get to the internals, thier exact reason as to why this is safer i dont know.

the brca legal lipos cases are glued so you can't tamper with the cells, or even change the cells to something thats not legel that could have an advantage so you have to destroy the case if you want to get in but then your lipo is void from brca events, theres also the safety side too for you so you can't get in and possibly have a big fire explosion!

OK, I understand that but shrink wrap intact, the glue is an non issue, right?

The pack with the ROAR sticker inside the plastic cover is the new brca legal one, as on the brca list

I spoke to Trakpower yesterday, as we have these in at the JEspares shop sold to us on the understanding that they are BRCA legal as this is what customers will need & want.

Upon checking a pack, there is no Efra sticker, so I made a call and am reliably informed that they will not be adding the Efra sticker and as long as the pack looks the same as in the photo on Eb list (i.e. has the Roar sticker + heatshrink) then all will be fine as these are the new generation glued packs and the same as what was submitted.

I did then ask the question to Trakpower if the EB are fully aware of this and they tell me that they are and have accepted it. So, next step, I emailed Paul Worsley for final confirmation.

I emailed him from the shop, and I am not back there until Tuesday. If Paul has replied I haven't read it, but I will confirm once and for all once I hear as I wouldn't count on any info 100% until I do hear from Paul.

I have just been forwarded the message from my email inbox at the shop. And I can now clarify.

For the BRCA, the Trakpower cells must resemble what was submitted and is photographed for the EB list.

All the packs with Roar stickers have been sealed/glued with CA glue.

It was suggested to the EB by Trakpower that they'd like to replace the Roar sticker with an Efra sticker for packs sold in Efra countries, the EB agreed to this and made the required note on the BRCA/Efra lists.

For the purpose of being BRCA legal, either the Roar of Efra sticker is acceptable. This denotes the pack has been factory sealed and can't be opened.

So to conclude this matter, if you receive a new pack with neither sticker then send them back - these are not BRCA legal. But if you pack has either the Roar or the Efra sticker then they are fine. The cells are not meant to have both stickers which is what I originally thought they would (and I suspect most of you did too).

This is very confusing, when I spoke to trakpower last week I asked the question about the labelling on the battery’s and the gluing of the cells. they told me that they have been gluing them for approximately two months but the roar badge has been on for six months.?? I’m very confused about this battery issue

Read my post above Ben it couldn't be clearer. Regardless of what you have been told:

Either/or "Roar" or "Efra" sticker and they are BRCA legal. (should resemble what is shown in www.brca.org > Electric Board> 2009 2s Lipos

No sticker, and they are not BRCA legal.

Hey Niggs, well you notice our EB list states "Also Efra label" which is where the either/or comes in, the email I got from Paul Worsley states he made the relevant comments on the BRCA and Efra list, so the Efra list should also show a picture with the Roar label and a comment about the Efra (or Vice Versa). So I would be confident to say it is the same situation exactly.

Glad you like the service at JE Spares , the difference in price is also that orders over £50 we don't charge P&P - the price advertised if over £50 is the price you pay.

Angry TRAKPOWER 4900

I can't help but think that this whole confusion could have been avoided if the BRCA had let all the Trakpower 4900 cells be legal. With a ruling that all new packs need to be stickered and glued. Like everything we buy new stuff as times goes on, so the original cells would have disapeared due to natural wastage. I believe they were legal for touring cars after all. So the saftey concerns don't stack up. Also I can't see anyone putting a different cell in the case to gain an advantage, as the speed we are getting out of 2WD's is already pretty much at the limit of driveability and capability of the current chassis. Still when does common sense ever prevail.

I ordered 2 sets of these cells from Speedy Models today, they dealt with my order efficiently and politely and also discounted the postage (making the cells equivalent to £60.50 each)
