If you have a problem like that, contact the shop you bought it from, they should not be like that.

the standard wing mounts on the X6 are pants, all the guys at my club (including myself) have had uneven ones that are just no good.

We all now use the Losi wing mounts as they bolt straight into the existing holes.

Hope this helps!!!

thanks, Jon

these do indeed fit but also make it practically impossible to use the x6 rear wing, and we have tried it the x6 wing makes a huge difference.

Although, I should also make you aware that I run a different rear wing as these losi ones will be no good for the X6 wing due to the big dip in the middle of it. I tend to run an Edit rear wing which is straight from left to right or a JConcept wing which has a slight dip in the centre but no where near as big.

Just thought I'd add that

Jon

Since I've had the car I've always run a flat rear wing as I didn't like the look of the original X6 one so I do not know the handling differences between the 2 types of rear wings... what are the differences??? what benefits do the original X6 wing give you???

Thanks, Jon!

more rear grip, more stability at high speed, better through the air while jumping, just better all round really we did try the edit and losi wings

Always make sure the wing mounts are "on" level, (ie, that they are as "square/straight" as possible) BEFORE finally tightening up the four mounting screws.

But the best "guide" by far for perfect wing mounting is SHY's one that he links too, as with the vast majority of his tips and guides on his website they are very well written and thought out.

i'm sorry to say but every 'pair' of x-6 wing mounts i ever bought (4 in total) were absolute rubbish. they were different heights left to right, not at the same level, different looking material left to right - hopeless... and they broke too easily (bolts pulling out of the holes) and yes, i did fit them properly....

as Jon said - we all went to losi or HB D4 mounts and didn't have one problem.

seems to me that some thought and money should have been spent in this area on some well designed, decent quality tooling for the x-6 sq. or at least a redesign of the part itself to make it more consistent (i'd have prefered if they were done properly for the MK1 X-6 but there you go....)

shouldn't they just work without any mucking about ? (like most other wing mounts) or is it expected to have to fix these issues as part of the build ?

rant over....

Certainly rant over, lol!!! Nick, could you PM your mobile number... I need to try and sort out an evening with you (hello sailor) to get some designs on the CAD system for my carbon fibre X6 chassis.

Either that or I'll be at the St.Johns club this evening!

Cheers chappy, Jon Seals!

Not had "that" many problems with the wing mounts, it really is the "odd" one that has a problem (110 X6 Squared kits now sold in the UK and only 3 problems that we have been informed about so far).
As for breaking or pulliung the screws out, then maybe just use some slighlty longer ones, I have doen this to my own X6 and not broken one at all since.
The worst problem we DO have is when Chazz puts two from the same side in the pack or a kit!!!!

I have stripped out a thread from one on my car so I ran a 2.3mm drill down the hole that the screw goes in and drilled all the way through. Then I just put a really long screw in and it's been spot on for months

all the wing mounts I have (had about 6 pairs) one particular side has always been slightly odd can't remember which one, i just think it's the way they've been manufactured as everyones x6 i've looked at, the same wing mount has always been slightly off, I just lived with it and carry on to use them and seem to have worked fine over the years i've used them

Well... Firstly I'm surprised this is still (?) the case even for the X-6 squared, after hearing some people claiming it's the best quality parts you can get Or what Darren?

Can you still fit the original wing with the D4 mounts then? If so I agree with you.

I like the fact that the X-6 mounts are so wide, makes the wing very stable!

(You don't need to modify the carbon tower, just file down on the mounts and add screws. That's all)

Still 1/2 meter snow on our track btw...

LOL I was waiting for that I did say our "new" parts, the wing mounts are an old bit....

Defo agree, that is the main benefit of them, they are pig ugly in shape I am first to admit, but nowhere near as bad as some people make them sound in fit

(You don't need to modify the carbon tower, just file down on the mounts and add screws. That's all)

Only 1/2 metre!!! Just a little sprinkling out there isnt it??

As I have said already SHY's excellent little tip is the way to resolve any issue, it is how most of us ion the team mount the wing and it is very quick and simple to do

To be honest, no single car out on the market today is perfect in every way, same for ours, if the wing mount was our biggest and only problem I would be pretty satisfied with that myself, and lets be fair, the rest of it isnt too shabby....

Darren
