Graham, have you got throttle curve adjustment on your tranny ? Might be worth trying some negative throttle curve before you get rid of your 6.5. It helps loads through the tighter sections. Try - 30% and go from there. It just means that you have more travel for your thumb before you reach full throttle. I have found it very useful on tighter tracks like Worksop.

HTH

halfway through yesterday G went to a 10.5 to calm things down and improved by over a lap but we dont think a 10.5 will be enough for outdoors hence the 8.5 being needed

we have already tried throttle curves etc but they dont help when everything is either on or off

Graham,

Don't want to de-rail this thread but most people seem to think an 8.5 is going to be too slow, I don't know many people who have them. However I completely agree that (especially with Lipo) they can be a really usefull smooth motor. If you can't get one 2nd hand and decide to buy new I can recomend the Novak one which I've used in most of the Worksop rounds this year in 2wd and not exactly been off the pace.

If you get a 7.5 then consider a bit of negative throttle curve over what you usally use.
