Traxxas Rustler VXL Brushless

Looking at this for a fun, fast basher.

Anyone own one? They look like silly fun to drive, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to upgrade to 2.4GHz - I'd much prefer to use my own controller with it!

They look like a great truck. They are hugely popular in the States but for some reason have never found the same success over here. As far as changing the radio gear, why do you think it would be difficult? Surely you would just remove the Traxxas receiver and put your own one in?
Be sure to post some pics in the truck section if you get one, it would benice to see something different.

I was a little confused because I've never purchased a RTR before (my only other RC is a DB01) - I had rather silly mental images of ending up with a very fast truggy with all the up-gradability of something from Nikko :P

I'll be sure to post pictures - even if they are a bit blurred!

I had a quick look at the Rustler on the Traxxas website and the waterproof compartment for the receiver looks plenty big enough for a Spectrum. I doubt you will have any trouble fitting your tranny gear into your new truck.

hi there i have got 4 traxxas truck and there good truck let me tell you i got the stampede vxl all rpm parts and there a handfull with a lipo but good fun same as my rustler vxl but the rustler is better on a track than the stampede there mad out ov control but i use lipo battery 11,1v 5000mha 35c = 90amps ov juice all i can say is i would never sell my 4 traxxas trucks emaxx erevo brushless mamba esc setup its speed is about 70 mph with lipo battery 2 11,1v lipo battery with hardcase as you need hard case as cheaper lipo can take a crash or the cell will burn out??????????????
