Schumacher do not offer bulk discounts on tyres, so any saving is coming directly out the retailers profits.

With possibly the worst profit margins in the retail sector it is not unreasonable for shops to demand a little customer loyalty before cutting their own throats.

Yes i know this but times are tuff and the cost of tyres havent gone down...although tyres for my real car have dropped schumacher continue to charge well over 7quid per pr.! SO being a place of information traffic i thought i'd ask if any one has any new ones unwanted..? Is that such a bad thing to do?!

Default Mini Pins

If you ever need Ballistic Buggy Mini-Pins (pink or Greens) i have a job lot (all new)

If it's just a few then £3.50 (pr) + Postage but i'm sure we can do something for job lots

Kind Regards
Jonathan

Ben you may of done up until recently mate but probably not any more (unless your supplier is insane ) since although the public only get to see that Schuey tyres are £7.99 rear and £7.49 front "suggested" what they dont get to see is that Schumacher have just moved the trade price up to the shops and left the RRP where it is, hence reducing the shop margin quite severely .

I suspect all this has been done so that the public applaud Schumacher for keeping prices down, but will they applaud them as much when the local shops all go broke and close down becasue they are not making enough money to survive..........

Bit of a bold comment darren... you dont make that much on tires anyway do you? It's not as if you just sell tires though.. lol

But even the poeple that don't break anything buy tires. They are the on;y thing a shop can nearly guarantee to sell

Been there, done that.

If no one buys tyres, they don't buy wheels, they don't buy inserts, they don't buy glue.
I did the national circuit for 8 years and initially, 75% of my business trackside was tyres and related items. That dropped off once shops decided that making 10p per pair was better than nothing and started price gouging but doing nothing to support racers trackside.

The desire to race on the cheap is in danger of killing off the hobby as more shops decide it just isn't worth the effort.

Just to add, Schumacher have slashed their margins on almost EVERYTHING, not just the tyres Ben!!! This thread was about tyres, so I used these as an example only, but as Dom has rightly said, tyres are a very "large" part of a race shops turnover, with many shops this forms a huge part of their profits.

There are lots of shops going under or very close to it at present and the first to moan will always be the racers once they have gone.
