I'm just guessing some drivers will be finding out from shops/manufacturers what's been submitted etc! Not saying it's underhand or "tricksy" though!

At the moment we don't know what stick packs are legal either, not just saddle!

Good point Ben, I REALLY haven't been budgeting for over £100 per battery!! Even though I'd only be after 2, not 4 like in previous years!

That price ( $164.99 MSRP ) will be a lot lower in the shops in the states so i bet they will be a few pennies under the £85 limit when they come out over here

It just states that the cells fall within the regulations, doesn't say they have been approved. Misleading and underhand marketing tacktick, especially if they don't get approved..

There is only one list I would trust and that will be on www.brca.org when its available.

Default LIPO's AND BRCA

Just trying to understand this.

http://brca.org/BRCA/elecboard/regs/...les%202009.pdf

If you look down the list regarding batts its says.

It follows that any new battery becoming available during a calendar year can only be used from the 1st April in the subsequent year. i.e. No new batteries will be homologated during the calendar year or racing season.

For 2009, the option of a 3.7v LiPo pack may be included, with
specifications to be confirmed, and a ‘rolling’ homologation list for the first year.

It looks to me that they'v not actually written any rule atall regaurding saddle lipo's. Thus meaning the dimentions people keep bringing up are only applicable to stick pack no? Also the homo list is of a rolling genre meaning that packs that come available during the year, can after being submitted and approved do not have to wait 12months before use.??

Is this not right. I'm a bit of a newbi to racing Reginals/Nationals (although i been racing for over 10years) but i would regard my self with a level head.

The way I read this is ...

Cells not on the list by the start of the season (1st April) will not be added until the following year.
Special consideration to 3.7V LiPos as it's still not sure how that will work out in the relevent formulas.

Saddle pack LiPo will have to fit, end to end, into the same dimensions as a stick pack.

Maybe I'm wrong and if so I bet I'll be corrected in seconds!!!

Angry grrr

As regards to people saying well you should have known...I didnt. As i have always raced club i really didnt know specs played such a big part. Especially this 2mm to long grrr. We're talking about the thickness of a credit card! In what way does this give any advantage?? Cells are cells are they not, longs caps and volts are at spec??.

Untill recently i had two sets of 33's and two sets of 42's Full stop. These bats where used for Mardave/Pan car/buggy etc. i made them up as i needed. I couldnt afford any more. These where always hand me downs bought from people in the club too. how the hell can i get hand me downs now when the batts arn't even out yet?

After a recent purchase of a B44 and brushless set up i used the cells i had for a few years. I still kept up if not beat the competition of people that run lipo/brushless. But this is not without its problems of alot of time needed to discharge/part charge storage/discharge/charge etc. With a baby on the way time is not what i have. SO with alot of good word about these track power lipos i went ahead and bought second hand of this very site! less than a week ago. Lovely i thought i mean if you pay nearly 70quid for batts surly i dont need to worry about them being legal for racing! (still didnt know!)

It was only by the time i found and bought my third pack of trak power saddle lipos that the guy i bought off told me exactly what i have just spent an evening reading lol ALL 13 PAGES Grrr.

I have read every post in the thread and have to agree with the majority that we have really been screwed over by the brca. After giving up rally cross last year due to CRAP weather and expence i thought hard about 1/10th buggy and pushed my self to get all i needed to be competitive. All old gear and cars sold to fund Buggy/brushless/lipo. Now finding out it could be made illegal. I would strongly think i wont be running if the lipos are made illegal. What should a newbi think, coming in to a different class finding out AFTER buying his gear its illegal??

Not every one can afford packs of new batts motors speedos etc when they need them. Takes a long time to pull your resorce's together to do so. Another 2x£85 quid is 170quid too much for the budget racer!!
