Or you could just ask Steve for a look of his 501

Would a few people be... err you Mr Legend? We all saw the car last weekend, lol.

By the way, it looked cool, and shiny. Winning combination in my book.

I would guesstimate that 99.99% of racers in the uk haven't seen this car in the flesh never mind run - so there must be a few ! heck, I wanna see it built - right, off to the cellar.

just as I was settling down to do some serious building I realised I didn't collect my nitro fuel for this weekend - couple of hours later I am back on the case haha.

So, I have since completed my 501x, installed all my electronics (QC2, Airtronics 361, Reedy Motor (7 x 2 - Maifield edition), Fantom Racing IB3800 cells. After 4 packs of running (3 quals and a main - placed 3rd in the A) and around 30 minutes @ 4V, the drive train isn't nearly as free as it should be. I am used to the X10, where you can look at the drive train and it will rotate. The diffs are all clean, as are the bearings, the centre pulley is more or less straight (there is an ever so slight wobble from the factory), the belt tensioners are in the recommended setting (which is I find a little snug, but being unfamiliar with belt cars since my Lazer ZX-RR, I opted to go with the suggested setting.. Does anyone else find this? or is it me being overly anal?

I don't know about this car but certainly the bx recommended settings for belt tension I found too tight. I ran belts at their loosest and they never skipped. The BX did have wider belts though.

Congratulations on your 3rd place - how does the car feel ? I am eager to get it on the track but because it is winter it might not be so much fun

Told you Leg-End I'd have it down the Warehouse on Saturday! Think the consensus was that everyone who saw it was v.impressed!

Would it be possible to fit the BX's battery holders to the 501x or would it be to much work to make the battery slots wider

Will 4200s fit the 501X? I hear they are bigger than 3300s and 3700s and all the pics I've seen have the car had 3700s installed.

Can someone tell me the dimensions (diameter and length) of the 4200/4300 batteries. I need MORE sets for racing and might as well get 4200s, rather than keep hunting down the last remaining 3700 packs.

Do you reckon with all the testing Tamiya have been doing at next years Worlds circuit, the 501X will actually work or 'hookup' as the Americans call it at any other track? OK it's probably worse case scenario.

I can't wait to see Jimmy's side by side comparisons.

Elliott.

First thing I thought when I saw it was "I wonder if the battery holders would fit from the BX" sad huh.

Cool

GP330SCHR cells are 22.50mm diameter

GP370SCHR and GP430SCHR measure 22.90 to 23.00 in diameter

The 4300mAh cells had better fit eh Jimmy?

Neil

Thankyou Neil.

So 3700s are the same size as the 4200 size cells. Okay.

Elliott.
