Jimmy I do have some other ideas for paintwork but the car is getting its first run tomorrow at our last major event for the year and for this first time out the 'box art' paint will have to do.
I think I'm also secretly hoping that someone does an aftermarket shell too because I still think this one looks pretty crap....

Mine should be here tomorrow! There was a bit of a mix up at hobby co, mine accidentally got deleted off the order but I managed to get one sent out for 9am delivery tomorrow morning. Excellent. I'm going to get a spare body, undertray and wing for mine and give them to our resident airbrush wizard for painting, I'll do the shell a plain colour for now. Does it come with window masks? I hope so. Can someone explain about these bleed holes to me, I think I know how to do them but I'm not sure. Do you fill the shock right up, leave the bleed screw out and push the piston all the way up til oil comes out the hole, then bung the screw in? Sorry for the silly question but I've only done shocks with rubber diaphragms in the top

Oh well, masking tape and scalpel time...
Unless... Jimmy...????
On a (slightly more) serious note, when are the drivers name stickers going to be available again as I wouldn't mind a few for my new shells for the TRF and DF-03 Also thinking of getting an X6 for the 2wd season next year, one of my mates has an old B4 in parts I can use to build up the rest of the car Anyone know where I can get an X6 conversion kit in the UK?

Lesro import/sell the X-6 conversion in the UK

I will indeed make some window masks as soon as I get the car mate. As for name decals I do them still, just not got a form online (I have a new one ready but time prevents me putting it up.)

Will PM you with some info tho .

Cheers for the PM Jimmy, I just got back to you Have you got any contact info (email or phone number) for Lesro? I won't be getting the X6 this side of chrimbo, I need to get round my mate's place and see exactly what else I need to get to make the car up. I think he said it needs a set of shocks...

Just need some round black things and its ready to go for tomorrow...

Sometimes you ask yourself though, is a 3.5 brushless enough?

Tony,

What servo are you using?

Ive got a GM one in mine and it just takes up too much space.

I need something around the size of a Futaba 9550 but with more torque

Mine has a 9550, figured it was worth a try as its worked fine in my other play cars this year (DF03, Cat 3000, Pred)

And Dettmann hasnt complained which is what I go by...

I've just been looking at the KO lor profile servo and everwhere is listing it at .10 seconds

in a car like this a nice little steering servo would be nice, don't think I can afford one tho.

We only got in half a dozen laps in practice (not entered for 4WD for the day) but man is it cool...
Suspension too soft (30/40) possibly because of the 36 degree heat but the car was stable, steered well and was FAST....
First rollover and the front l/hand upper shock mounting bolt bent like a pretzel. Sure the car was a foot in the air and then landed I'll grant you...but a possible weak point.

It will be 37 here today, so we went out, played with the 501, then I came home... It just isnt fun in that heat, simple as that. Plus there are V8 Supercars on the TV this afternoon. However at least we got to run it!

Just spoke to my fiance who is currently in China, and its Minus 2 over there.. Such a contrast...

Jimmy,

Can we post links to company websites (or will people have to PM me)? There's a great place (for UK peeps, at least) where I've bought stainless steel screws from for my X10. I've had no problems with them, i.e. no stripped heads, they're keenly priced and they don't enforce any minimum order quantity (a problem with a lot of other places I've come across).

They mainly do metric, but have started doing some Imperial sizes. Currently, I don't think they do anything small enough for Losi and Associated kits though. Could always ask....

Thanks!

I see the 501X for $479 out of HK at the moment (plus shipping and duty of course)... tempted.. tempted... about the same price as the Yokomo out of China... Shall I sell the DF03 (not built yet) and geta 501X?

please tell me what to do.. DCM, Jimmy?

Neil

Mine arrived yesterday, many thanks to Hobby Co sending it out for saturday am delivery I built most of it last night, but I'm no good at building shocks without diaphragms, so I'm going to enlist the help of one of my friends who's been building and racing 1/10 buggies for near on 20 years It's a lovely kit, the only things I found were a little bit of play in the front arms (which I shimmed out using some of the shims in the kit) and a little bit of play in the rear uprights which need shimming slightly. I also found a bit of movement in the steering assembly, don't know if anyone else has noticed but the bearings on the cross bar aren't a very tight fit into the cross bar, mine keep moving slightly. I'll run a tiny bit of superglue round the inside of the holes to close them up a bit then press the bearings in. The front of the body shell is a bit of a pig to cut out as well. If I get a second body shell I'll take the body mounts off and just use velcro to stick the body to the undertray.
Progress pic... (Not brilliant quality cos I used the camera on my phone)

PS I noticed most of you just attach thumbnails to the bottom of your posts, can someone explain how to do that, easy enough for any numpty (ie me ) to understand
