hey guys
ive just come back from hong kong and brought back a Durga with the titanium screw set. whilst in the shop i saw a tamiya lunch box for $370 HKD. this equated to about £25 ![]() now i have just finished building the lunch box and im about to start on the durga ive seperated all the screews and little bits into seperat boxes for easier location now what i wanna know is does the official tamyia db01 screw set replace all the screws or is it only a select few. if its not the whole lot then which ones are they?? is there a specific area dnt wanna be putting screws where they dont belong |

They replace almost all the screws except the odd ones that have a very shallow screw head. If I remember correctly, there are the two small ones that mount the spur to the spur holder, and one of the long ones that come from the bottom of the chassis into one of the servo mounts. Oh ya, also the motor mount screws which are cap head steel screws (black). Oh, and the four 2.5mm X (I think) 10mm screws that go in the middle of the gear cover (middle belt cover). These screws are not replaced. There might be others but this is all I remember. Basically, the titanium screw set replaces all the ordinary shaped phillips head M3 (aka 3mm) screws with titanium button head and flat head (aka countersunk) M3 screws, and nothing else. If you find any screws with a fancy head, you use the original one.

thanks for that
just wanted to be sure for some reason building the db01 seems a bit daunting. Its far more complex that other tamkiya kits ive built ![]() |

The Tamiya titanium screws are a bit soft. Try using a 5/64" driver instead of a 2mm driver for a better fit. Also try using a hex-head steel screw to pre-tap some of the tougher holes such as those in the shock tower.

For what its worth (and I can't remember if the Screw Kit comes with any) when I first built my Durga I did not replace screws that mount the shocks, as I've found in the past that titanium ones can bend here. I used some good old fashioned M3 deep cap head machine screws from a local tool factors, cost me about 5p for 20, which should see me through to 2028 at least! When I rebuilt my Durga into a carbon reinforced chassis I removed most of the Tamiya Ti screws as I kept getting the willies that they were going to round out (so that was money well spent. NOT) and replaced them with a set from Tonys Screws. As recommended by Jimmy oOple. Should have done that in the first place, they are ace. Still, we live and learn. |

Oops, you're right. The two short black ones for the spur are on the TA-05. The Durga is different coz the spur is clamped between two fake slippers. And it's the short one that goes into the servo mount that is the strange flat one, so you're right on both accounts.
![]() Sorry for the wrong info.
