Good point. I won't be at this years regionals purely due to Lipo not being allowed.

Fully understand that they're not BRCA approved = can't use them. Thats why I am going to the AGM.

BUT how about a none-regional heat for those who want to run Lipo and a secondary championship? As long as the venue is okay with our new, safer than Nimhs, Lipo technology.

Forgive me for butting in on a NE region topic, but one thing to note is that new cells (NiCAD, NiMh, LiPo etc...) are normally only homoligated for use from "the next" April 1st. So should the BRCA EB & 1/10th Off-Road sections both vote positively to introduce LiPo support, then they will only be legal at sanctioned from April 1st '09 (unless an execption is made by the committees. Unlikely, but possible)

Chris's suggestion of a none regional/points scoring class would be your best option until clarification comes from the BRCA AGM.

(please don't take this as i being anti-LiPo, as I'm definately not. Just a little info on how the rule book is worded)

your welcome, X factory brother

I agree Phil and i think this has been said in other threads. I personally doubt they will be allowed for the indoor finals either because there is no need for them, its not like we have cells going off like we did this time last year, so the new list of cells would not be brought in on safety grounds like they were this year

It might be a bit stupid but do we really need to follow the BRCA rules or can't we just have regionals that don't follow the BRCA rules to the letter, even if we don't call them regionals?

I mean, it's not like indoors regionals mean anything anyway since they count for nothing in terms of formulas etc... So we could call it north east series and allow hard cased lipos, maybe follow the EP list for TC since there is one...

Are people seriously not gonna race at regionals just because they don't allow lipo's??

What has everyone done with the cells they ran all this last year?

2 packs of cells will do you for a meeting easy.... when lipo's are legal run them, until then run what you had previously.

Agreed Bradders it would be very daft for people to do that, like you say 2 packs are ample.

Fabs, Its a BRCA event, they count towards the BRCA end of season finals.

I dont know why people are trying to belittle the regionals rules are rules and we know that we cant use cells that are not on the list before april, i really don't see the problem?

I don't either. Seems the few are trying to bully in the use of lipo. Why go fully lipo in the knowledge it isn't approved

Anyway, the April rule doesn't have to apply does it. Take the case of the Losi brushless systems, these were added to the approved list mid-year.

Im sure people arent trying to belittle the indoor Regionals but in my situation, i have bought a lipo car and have got rid of last years cells so if they dont allow Lipos then i cant do them.

You made that decision even though Lipo is not Brca approved? What happens if BRCA don't approve? Will peeps stop doing outdoor regionals and nationals as well? Crazy situation.

Medders: cell lists and motor lists are different , cells have to be supplied by a certain date to be tested etc, where as motors can be sent in for homologation at any time.

Motors can be homologated at any point during the year, whereas cells only get added at April 1st.

I think that people have been very hasty to buy lipo cars in hope they get approved at the agm.

I think the odds of lipo being introduced are 50/50 at best this year

So what would you rather have? No regionals and subsequently no end of season finals, or a series that follows brca rules but allows Lipos and just doesn't count towards the finals which we won't be able to attend anyway?
