Batteries and motors need to be approved by the BRCA, a list of legal motors can be found on the electric baord section of the BRCA website as can both the 2007 and 2008 list of legal batteries. You can use any batteries from this list for regionals but only 2008 for nationals (which you dont need to worry about).

Carl, if you are thinking about racing, the first thing I would do is to get yourself down to a club meeting which are held mainly Thursdays or Friday nights or a regional meeting which are all day Sunday's.

You have posted your thread in the mid-west region so I guess you living in that area. Go to this web site and have a look around, your more that welcome to come, watch and ask question’s everyone is friendly (apart from Stanlop and Newhound) and are willing to help.

well, it all depends on what level you are intending to run, if you are wanting to do BRCA sanctioned events, like regionals, then you have to use cells from the 2007 or 2008 battery list, nationals, the 2008 battery list, motors will have to be on the motor list too.

If you just intend to run club, then you will need to check what the club will allow, currently, must of my club are running lipo/brushless, as we decided that, that was the wat forward and that we were all at the stage of buying batteries. (and before anyone pipes up, LiPo IS covered within your BRCA insurance)
