Hi,
I've been running a 'full-fat' 5.5 novak velociti & GTB controller with sintered rotor geared on 18:108 with no temperature problems and plenty of speed. I've been trying the velociti light 5.5 and I've found it get's much hotter on the same gearing. Is this normal? Should I go smaller or larger on the pinion to compensate? Cheers, Mark |

the light motors do get hotter than the 'R' motors, there was a big thread earlier about novak light motors in another section its to do with thinner wires in them, no need to gear them different really compared to the 'R' versions apart from suiting the gearing to the tracks you race on I do think the 'L' motors are much more suited to 2wd as 4wd requires more torque which the 'R' motors deliver better with less heat where as the 'L' motors will genrate more heat but deliver the torque smoother than the 'R' spec, I run a 5.5L in 4wd and havn't had any problems with it getting hotter than other motors
