I'd wish all FIA officials would just sod off and do nazi kinky sex orgies together with Max in stead... Let the boys battle it out themselves!

And give Bernd Mayländer a real drive and get rid of that pace car... it belongs in the US!

Even better: let normal guys drive! How fun wouldn't that be to watch! F1 drivers are way too good!

Here's my take on this (for what it's worth...)

Hamilton made the mistake and crashed. No-one's fault but his.

However! if Kimi hadn't decided to pull out of his garage alongside the other car (isn't this why they have lolipop men - to prevent this?) then Lewis would have missed both cars and no crash would have happened...

As far as I could see the light changed just before Kimi approached the pitlane exit. No?

C'mon the whole rule is ridicolous. Several drivers have been penalized this year for going into a closed pitlane. What do you else do when your tank is empty?

And when it's open, why the **** close it when drivers need to get back out there?

The whole pace car & closed pitlane thing is making F1 more like CART = russian roulette... The best drivers should win, not the most lucky ones...

When a car is wrecked, just use the good old yellow flags = no overtaking & slow down...

They shouldn't close the pitlane full stop...... The reason they do it is to apparently stop everyone diving in together, so what happens in Montreal when they re-open the pit lane? Everyone dives in!!!!! Makes no sense to me.

The problem with this whole safety car nonsense is that to allow cars in the pits means they must then allow the safety car and entire field to pass the pit exit before they can allow anyone to leave the pits hence Kimi and Kubica waiting at the end under a red light.

Surely keeping F1 cars sat there still with their engines running is stupid anyway, especially after they've just been sat in the pit too, temp's are going to be going through the roof!

I agree Lewis was obviously not paying full attention and hadn't realised the cars ahead were actually stopped until it was too late - but equally if you were working for the team, just for the sake of saying it would you not remind lewis that the red light was on at the end of the pits? Surely that would be worth saying even if it's obvious????

he just wants to be like Senna, blindingly quick all the time and smashing lap records and pulling huge leads, i just think he need to let the race come to him and not think right im the fastest i need to get a huge lead right away.

There is a very good reason for the pits been closed while the safety car is out. YOu can drive into the pits drive straight though and gain a lap on the field and then the safety is no longer holding the lead car!! And the penalty was spot on look at Alonso last year, he got one for just sitting in his pit box and not driving like an idiot into the back of a car waiting at a red light! Funny how he chose his closest rival to to hit!! A car would of stopped braking in a straight line!

As far as I no the pitlane i closed till everyone is trapped safely behind the safety car to prevent people from instantly diving in and shooting out of the pits hurring to the back of the field driving through the danger zone like maniacs. Imagine someone hurrying back out of the pits flying by Kubica`s rescue team at last years Montreal GP and loosing it! Could have benn a huge disaster!

For sure the whole rule has to be revamped in a way, hopefully for the better...you never know in F1 ...and yeah parking F1 cars are a huge problem for the engine. My thought: A : As already told before get rid of the refueling (that`s for endurance racing in my opinion). B: Get rid of the safety car completely!...and whenever a full course yellow / safety car is needed, the drivers have to use the pitlane speedlimiter (or a new limiter, let`s say 160 km/H) until everything is safe again. No marshals would be endangered and the pitlane could stay open.

yeah the Senna comparison is quite right, but you have to imagine it`s only Hamilton`s SECOND season. Surely he might have been the absolutely best prepared rookie to ever enter F1 in one of the best cars, but competing for the F1 worlds is just not really comparable to competing for the GP2 champs. Just have a look at the young Senna and Schumacher, wreckage all over the place! I think the first year Senna was able to use his head and accept a second or third place was 1991. The year he won his third world championship! Hopefully Lewis will be able to learn this trick a bit earlier, otherwise he will throw away a lot more championships. ...Montoya never got this ability, he was either unbeatable quick or he somehow smashed it. Still a shame he lost that 2003 championship!

I used to love watching Villeneuve when he was racing for williams, i remember when he took that pole in melbourne by about 3 seconds.

Truly awesome, it was a shame he left though and took the money

Oh yeah i know what your saying but there is no point pushing for a 20second lead in one lap and not thinking of the full race

I actually think the most awesome performance i've seen is Damon Hill when he was walking away with it in the Arrows car in Hungary '97, until he had a throttle linkage failure and got passed by Villeneuve on the final lap. Still managed second though!!

what a drive!!

Hill and Villeneuve are my fav drivers, but i think that was down to the old man loving any one who drove for Williams in the 80s and it rubbed off on me.

Damon Hill being probably the most underrated F1 driver ever, shame he did loose the Hungarian GP 1997...even though assisted the then new Bridgestone tires a great drive! ...and Villeneuve, great addition to F1...he entered F1 when everybody said "ooh it`s impossible to pass", but he did it....anyone remember his pass on Schumacher in Estoril 1996? Great stuff!
