Hi
Does part LA210, Front Bulkhead, contain the standard front brace for the Lazer ZX-5? Looks like it does, but not easy to tell from the photos? Also, is the standard knuckle and hub carrier 4,7, or 10 degrees? Part no LA219? No prizes for guessing what i did over the bank holiday weekend ![]() Thx Ted |

not sure on the front brace question, will have to look it up.
But the kit standard hub was 7 deg. All the main drivers ran 10 deg though so i'd get a few pairs of those.

The stock ZX-5 contains the standard moulded composite brace, the SP has the aluminum one. If you have the plastic one you need to get LAW31 which is the aluminum upgrade part.

I would agree, LAW31 is worth it's weight in gold as it makes the front end near bullet proof!

Ok thanks, i'll have a look - would be worried the brace would stay intact and I'd snap a wishbone instead, but I guess not!

You will still snap wishbones, and hubs but the brace helps keeps the bulkhead together.
Knuckle & hub carriers, part numbers are 219-4, 219-7, 219-10 7 being stock and 10 deg being what most run as Jim has said. We find we lose a few lower king pins when the hubs go - worth having spare. |

Was the original ZX5 front end that fragile? The SP is bullet proof ...... I was doing silly jump atempts with mine at the weekend at Ledbury and it survived everything i threw at it until I got it so wront it landed on the corner of the front tower and then cartwheeled end-over-end about 6 times ..... I broke a front shock tower ... that's all

I find the ZX-5 to be a bit of an enigma. Sometimes the most innocent looking knock can result in a race ending break, yet other times a 40ft cartwheel into a fence results in nothing more than a cheer from the onlookers! I also notice that I am more prone to break the left c-hub than any other part. This is quite frustrating as I am now over-run with knuckles and right hand c-hubs

I'm guessing that most of the tracks you run on are laid anti-clockwise then? More left hand corners, and more left hand corners at the end of the straight, adds up to more impacts on that side!

Actually we always run clockwise so there are more (high speed) rights than lefts. This probably is the cause though as if you run wide and hit something, it is the left knuckle that takes the impact.

That would make just as much sense!

Thats odd as there were four spare knuckles that came with the car, all rights!
I don't think the car is fragile Roger, I think its amazingly strong. I was actually playing with the car in the garden and teaching my son how to drive it. Instead of limiting the throttle travel in the transmitter setting, or even swapping out the 11x2 for a stock, I just jammed my thumb between throttle and transmitter body (its a steerwheel) to limit the cars top speed. Alas my hand slipped just as my three year old gave it the full moo and the car went flat out into a brick wall. Given that, I expected the damage to be a whole lot worse.... Still, its his 3rd birthday next month, so maybe I'll start him on a Tamtech instead ![]() |
