This might be a daft question but is there a world champs every year ? If so where and when is it going to be this year ?

I think it's every two years. The last one was in Japan (2007, so the next won't be until 2009).

Next worlds are 2009 in Pretoria, South Africa.

So far as I am aware, there is no other info available at the moment.

South Africa is a cool country, it helps to know where to go and where not to go. Stay where you should go, and it rivals any international destination in the world.
