Looks like i may well be packing up again too having only really recently had another go! I was lucky in that i didn't have to spend too much to get into it again but it's still surprising how much you have to spend just to get to a regional if you want to compete (Can be as much as 2 sets of tyres, £30/40 fuel, £8 booking in - As Stan said i guess about £50 is the norm if not more.... which isn't a great deal but with a mortgage to pay for, a wedding in 4 months or so and the "pressure" of her indoors watching every single penny gets a bit much.

Sometimes as much as i love having a hobby i think you have to take a step back and re-assess your priorities, some things are too important and for me having the luxuary of Racing is something i can't really afford or certainly justify i suppose at the moment.........

I may come back again one day but the main thing i wanted to do was prove to myself that i could still compete at a high level but for now i shall start looking at selling up - Anyone want a virtually new/mint B4 with lots of nice bits, a 6 meeting old Novak Brushless system and shed loads of new Tyres & Spares please PM me and i'll get back to you this weekend with what i have.

Cheers guys.

Off road is cheap compared to on road, we can get away with not having the latest and greatest.

I think most people can get away with a new set a meeting (club/regional), thats only £15 if you use acetone.
seeing as me nor my daddy can not afford that we only buy tires for nationals then i have to use them till the next national.. over winter i get some though...

but also going back to the escaping the real world comment, ive always thought that especially when ive had a bad week or something..

my dad cant wait tilli start paying to race... i can wait.. =[

Hey up Nick,

What happened with those Cat wheels, I sent the money via paypal a while back...? Sorry to hear you giving up. I have had to cut down to just club racing every fortnight just due to the cost, and doing work at home on the house and garden. Hopefully now I have paid out for a lot of things, it shouldn't be too bad, but I understand why people have to give up. Hope to see you again soon.

Haha yeah i would still like to come to at least one but i know i'd only really feel like i should be racing!!

I'm still hopeful that maybe next year (end of) or the following maybe i can have another play but it's just i've got so much to pay out for this year and there doesn't seem to be enough weekends as it is so i only really have the one option :-(

We did have a couple of good races though hey? (especially the first one haha ) Good luck for the rest of the year though dude.

fair do's, you're right in the priorities you've set, although if i were you, i wouldn't sell anything other than your cells (or other stuff that goes off in time), you just wouldn't get the money's worth....

and you KNOW you'll get the bug again one day......

Guess I'm lucky then rc racing is my "cheap" hobby, a bike track day willl probably cost me £150 -£200 incl fuell but without crashing wheras I can drive my small works van ( free fuell ) to rc meets and I genraly recycle wheels etc.

that said swimbo and I both work, only have fixed outgoings of £1300 a month between the 2 of us ( morgage bills food etc )

most of our furniture is second hand both our cars combined are only worth about £4k cheap but happy thats my motto.

I'm actualy selling my £5k honda fireblade as I can afford to keep it but cant justify to myself using a £5k 170mph bike on the road when a £2k 150mph bike is more than enough.

you can either have one expensive toy or lots of cheap ones.

I also dont and wont have kids and the wench is happy with a £500 wedding in the local reg office ( when she finaly drags me down the isle )
and a big party at my folks house ( large garden y'see)

my motto if you dont think you can afford it then you cant.

and as for those who spend £25k on a wedding unless thats a months sallary your head needs examining

A lot can be said for doing your own car servicing, waiting for that film to come out on dvd, oven pizza rather than dominos, crate of beer round a mates place rather than bar prices at the pub.

then again if all you do is put off the fun things to save ££'s life can be a bit boring

oh yeah never spend more than £20 on a pair of jeans

Cripes .... I'm going to Asda on the way home to buy my usual £3 jeans ... last just as long as a £20 pair so why even spend that???? Only reason I'm buying new is that I ripped mine at the weekend trying to get to Mr Sleigh's car for about the 4th time that final ... maybe I should ask him to pay .....LOL

Ash, Just wait until you have to pay for a woman, car and house...

Only the latter appreciates in value....

N

ps.. and there is the expense of all the little Ashleys and Ashlettes who want to spend your well earned cash on £30 pairs of jeans....
