Not a lot of room in the Fabia, it's about the same as a Polo. More room than most cars in it's class, if you go racing on your own you'll be fine. They are pretty nippy aswell and easily return 40+ mpg. Awesome value for money and they hold the VRS model holds it money fairly well.

Nor do you read Mr. Timberlake

Try getting that spec. Audi A3 for "up to 5k" - not likely given that you received yours just as that engine entered circulation, which was barely a year ago.

Go crazy an get yourself an Alfa Romeo 147 / 156 / Spider / GTV.
Also the diesel engines aren't that bad.

And most importantly they're more fun to drive than a Volkswagen

If you get a well serviced one, you've got less problems than with a Golf.
I've got an GTV as a daily driver now for 3 years - the only thing I had to change was the exhaust to stainless

Alfa's are seriously over rated. All I can say, is the salemen must go through plenty of Horlicks.

Try changing it for another car, it'll be worth two gold fish & a toffee apple, on a good day! If you want something that still has a value when you come to change it how about a VW Golf GTDi 150bhp, pretty quick for an oil burner and good fuel consumption.
