Depends what you´re aiming for, and going to use it for. Always good to be able to switch lenses. Got a 300 and 400 at work, mainly photographing at buildingsites, or inspections.

I prefer the 300, because its larger and I get a better grip with it.
Comparing the pictures, I can´t really find any differnce as an amature.

Good but old. (5 years now)

The new 450D has twice MP count. Find megapixels mean relatively little providing the camera is over 5MP, but it just gives you that extra cropping ability. It's also 2.5 photos a second, compared to 3.5 of the new 450D.

However if that's of little importance for you, and the 300D is being offered cheap (perhaps with some good lenses) then it makes sense. If it helps, on eBay a 300d body only goes for around £150, around £200-250 with a basic lens and memory card etc.

DP Review have a good article, review and example gallery:

want to use it for rc racing , general family stuff and landscape pics. so an all rounder really. just that my s7000 lacks zoom, might get it to play with and if i like it trade upto newer version.
thanks for the reply's

Andy Shillito got a brand new 300D in black with lens and battery grip 2 years ago direct from canon UK on ebay - 250 quid. All brand new sold as reconditioned (but not) might be worth checking out what they are selling now.

My wife has a 300D, and in the had it feels a ton better than the 400/450D. The new ones are just so tiny.

And unless you are looking to do large prints, I'd be wary of falling into the mega-pixels trap. 6MP is really ample for almost everything but he largest prints.

Cheers!
