Tamiya Durga DB01 EP Buggy (A cheaper 501X?)

I wouldn't worry too much about the balls wearing - they don't move in the holders unless you have a bent hingepin.

I fitted the stabilser bars to my Durga, and I note that the bars themselves wobble all over the place in the clamps?

not fitted them personally, but a lil wobble is 'ok' ? should just mean it's not effective immediately. but 'all over the place' doesn't sound quite so good

bmag, this IS a DURGA DB01 thread, NOT 501X so please don't try to create any havok here.

you can get collets for the anti-roll bars, they are a TRF part, and you use them to clamp in place so you get no side to side movement.

what is a good start to install the roll bar?

rear? front? or both?

I very VERY rarely run them in 4wd buggy, and if I do, it would be front first to stop it digging in on the outer wheel, I would only run one on the rear in depserate circumstances

Of course I don't know what I am comparing to! Does anyone else have them fitted that could give me an idea of how secured they should be by the little clamps? I guess I should double check the build manual incase I have failed to add something in that should be there

Would they tend to be more use on indoor type environments than full on outdoor off road?

not sure how they fit on the Durga.... soz, just looked, you tighten up the screw that attaches the clamp to the gearbox, then you wind the grub screw till it just binds the bar, then back off a little, it is there to purely remove slop, if you want to remove side to side play, you need to use some collets with grub screws.

Oh, i think I might be missing the step with the grub screws you know, I'll look at that once I have done my aquarium water change.... was bound to be me being stoopid!

I took my durga for a run today. I had incredible bash session with my new Lipo battery for the second day in a row. I had so much fun today and now realize what all the hype about Lipo technology is about. Along side my Team Orion 3600 carbon edition lay my Mamba Max 6900 system which is the only brushless system i have owned, but to me is the best out there. Once the motor starts to lose performance i will probably replace it with something non Castle creations. Has anyone tried out the orion vortex motors? If so i would love to hear feedback about it.
The options on my Durga includes the new Tamiya dampers(which have been great so far. ), the obvious slipper clutch, front one way, aluminum front and rear suspension mounts(Awesome), the TA-05 carbon battery strap, 501X aluminum suspension mounts, front and rear 3racing carbon fiber shock towers, and i think that is about it. Yes i do know that if i add all of that money together i will come up with a high price,but every penny spent on her has been well worth it after seeing what this buggy was capable today. The whole time i had a smile on my face and realized that i love this car and think that it may be one of the toughest, most durable,high performance 4WD buggy on the market. Yes i know that this buggy has it's doubters and critics but if you actually held this buggy and saw how it performed today that you would probably buy one. Sorry for the ranting, but i just wanted to share my love for this car with you guys and let you know how much i appreciate owning it. BTW I can wait for the next buggy that Tamiya releases soon. Im talking of a TRF style piece of work like the 501X and the durga. Tamiya always has something up their sleeve in the making.

The grub screws were exactly what I had missed, as the leaflet with the stabiliser kit didn't show them (I guess as they were not shown on a durga, but a 501x), but th ebuild manual did show them..... I should learn to read the docs before going off all cock-eyed

Couple of my friends have been running their Durgas on carpet in Tamiya races and it seems most of them who were running the slipper tightened it all the way down. The slipper doesn't seem to give enough friction at any other setting. Everyone tried it at the kit recommended 3mm setting, then 4mm, then all the way down (6mm). The motors were only Tamiya 23-turn (Japanese stock) motors (BZ, TZ and RZ).

Anyone else have similar experience with the DB-01 slipper? Is it very different than the TRF501X slipper?

One of my friends didn't glue his tires during practice one day before race day and didn't seem to have this problem. Once he glued his tires on race day, his slipper got really ... er... slippy and he had to tighten it all the way down. Seems once the slipper starts working, it gets a lot more slippery.

It must just be your friends problem with the slipper, because mine works just fine with Brushless power and also works at different settings.
