Hi guys,
I'm dynamite and I've just signed up. Looks like a great forum so far. I and my good mate GT have just bought a couple of Zx-5 rtr's. First time rc'rs but loving it all so far. Our prepackaged rims and tyres have taken a beating and are well due for replacement. I'd describe our local track surface as dry clay with loose dry red pebbles... at least until the rains come ![]() If anyone has any advice as to what rims/tryes we could be using, I'd appreciate hearing it. The rtr's seemed to wear out pretty quick (partially due to our learning to drive) so we're keen to find some better rubber if there are any recommendations going out there. We are also happy to go to a better set of rims if there will be improvements. Are the yellow rims really faster? ![]() Also, I think the Zx-5's had no inserts in them. Should we be using inserts with new tyres? What is a good insert or a bad/average insert? We are new to this so any advice would be great. Thanks for reading! ad |

I'd speak to some of the quick guys at your track to ask them what they run, but i would expect it to be a Proline or Losi Tyre in either M2/M3 or Silver/Red compound on Clay.
To be honest they should last a while on Clay as it's mainly the sticky soft compoud that works rather then the tread itself. I think the ZX5 RTR's probably come with the old Kyosho H Pattern tyres which are quite hard too so if you go for something like a Proline Holeshot in M3 compound - http://www.m-k-racing.com/product_in...oducts_id=4730 They should work fine and also come with inserts so you just need a set of rims to go with them and you'll be good to go!

Jim had some front wheels in the wanted section:
http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8766 and he may have old tires (pm him), remember there are 2 different fittings for ZX-5 wheels, the new SP car has a different offset & hex? Great car - have fun |

Will the Cyclone D4 rims work on the SP? I think they are cheaper and currently much easier to get in Germany...
