the current government have sold off the family china and gold and got bugger all esle to sell, so it borrows and is billions in debt, thats why the Cons have said no tax vuts for four years so they can at least pay off a good part of the debt.

We pay the hignest portion of out income in taxes in the EU..... stealth tax on everything too, you spend it they tax you..... even essential items of food, clothing and goods is now taxed and VAT, nothing left, but the biggest no no, the new Tax scales reward those earning over £16K and those earning less pay more, so the ones who can least afford to pay out more are hit, the more you earn, the less % you pay in total earnings.

So it isn't just car tax and duty on fuel, it is EVERYTHING....

How do you work that out, 23% or 40% is the same percentage regardless of the figure. The percentage doesnt alter just the sum you pay

Default pre march 2001

if you need a big car then lets just all buy pre march 2001 cars ! that will bugger them, kinda defeats the object but hey ?

If they used all that tax money and built loads of hydrogen stations Like Arnie has in California then we could all buy none poluting cars ! But then they would loose all that tax money wouldnt they ? So they aint gonna bother until its too late !

There used to be a 10% bracket, now gone. The lowest earners now pay a higher proportion of their wages in tax.

the BIG earners take dividends rather than a wage we is offset so their tax bill is far less of a percentage to someone on £15K a year, with a mortgage they can't afford and fuel bills going through the roof.

It is about time that people realise that the labour party are no longer a party for the people, the working family, they are a party for the wealthy and the immigrants. At least in Wales they have done some to relieve the burden by scrapping charges for prescriptions and stopping hospitals from charging to park there for appointments....

But what is the option, Conservative come out with contradictory policies as and when Labour come out with something not so pretty, but the top and bottom of it is - we'll get screwed over the same.

If they pulled the troops back home, then that would cut some massive government spending which they could reward back to the tax payers - but I recon they wouldn't do that, they are quick to tax us, slow to give anything back.

actually, historically, Labour Governments have always been bad for the country in their third term and always financialy bad, Cons are that same, but generaly better financialy, even if you dislike their policies.

If the troops are pulled back from Iraq, there won't be a big saving for 2 years as there will be a lot of postponed maintenance to catch up on, then the money not spent there could be used to pay off our debt to the world bank....

What pissed me off most about the Labour government is the smile and the stab in the back, they played holy hell with privitisation but carried it on at an increased rate when they took power, I was made redundant due to it. They have made life so expensive that for most people now, with a family, both parents HAVE to work, so you got to leave your kids with strangers, crime is through the roof, illegal immigration is to and that then has a knock on to the bennefits system, the NHS and councils.

Man I could go on for ages. I know things weren't to pretty under Maggie, but they were a far better time than now, we are made to feel like we got more, but how many of us are in big debt, I would guess a lot reading this would rather not tot up their debt.

Lets just leave the country, I will as soon as I can, and I know others are planning the same.

I'm fed up with it. Each country has its problems, just ours seems to be the most stupid ones.

the issue that needs to be resolved is the loop hole issue. I'm afraid to say I take advantage of a large number of loop holes. if they plugged them the country would be far better off.

The taxes on cars in my view are justifiable but pointless when you have China pumping out enough CO2 to wipe out any cuts we make and then some.

The main cost that needs sorting out though is the NHS. In my view the NHS is no where near value for money and some more privatisation is urgently needed.

Just been walking back from town and all the cab drivers in stockton are throwing a protest in their cars blocking the busy main road of Yarm Lane. They have a huge banner saying No to 65% car tax.
It was kind of amusing to see them all drive down the road one cab after another. I didn't know there was so many of them.
Anyhow it will be on the news tonight hopefully. The camera crew where there.

disagree there, the way the NHS is funded and staffed is what is wrong, instead of having a lump sum payment of a budget, limit the budget for a department and have the NHS pay per treatment, that would slim things down and speed up service.

Whatever the shortcomings of the NHS, or the Education service, both reportedly received £1.9 billion less each last year while the MOD spent an extra £4.5 billion. I'm not sure how much of that money was for front line warfare and how much was for compensation to those who, having joined the army to travel to far off lands & kill foreign people, have been traumatised by their experience. Apparently in this day and age you don't join the army expecting to be injured or see others killed or injured.

I'm sure that the next thing is that the police, fire service, ambulance service and hospital staff will be entitled to compensation for dealing with casualities from assualts, collisions etc. After all you don't join any of those expecting to have to deal with dismembered torso's, lengths of crash barrier through a car drivers head, people kicked so badly they're not recognisable as human beings do you?

Strangely common sense still seems to hold sway in these services and it hasn't happened yet, otherwise our car taxes would have to go up even more!
