water based paints clean with water, solvent based paints clean with solvent .
usually what ever you use to thin the paint your spraying
you use the same to clean with.

I'm going to be reviewing some products for RRCi soon, some of these are cleaners for airbrushes.
I've allways used water to clean things like faskolor, but since using these cleaning soloutions I can't believe how much better the airbrush performs. I can't remember off the top of my head what they are but I'll let you know where they are from. When I get round to it.

That one is ace. And the foaming cleaner is top at getting rid of gunk in the nozzle and old dry paint.

But keep a look out in RRCi for the full review, which includes an airbrush too.

I use that stuff to, I got a whopping bottle of it and a small one, I decant some into a tub and put a small amount in the bottom and top up with water, enough to emerse the cup in it, makes the brush nice and fresh for the next day, also great on dark to light colour changes too.

I should probably look out for that, still have some old faskolor stuck in my airbrush, found it horrible stuff to work with

waterbased paints are everywhere, far less smelly and if done right, just as tough as pactra.

Paint thinner, I used the pactra stuff, but I think you can use any paint thinner for solvent based paints (sure DCM or Tel will know). It's much much much easier to work with than faskolor though, sprays nicer too

The Shop in my link also provide a solvent cleaner that I've used for cleaning Spaz stuff, and that too is very good.

Regarding thinning pactra solvent, I just used to use cellulose thinners, and that always seemed to work ok, But I just used to spray some out of an aerosol into a jar. That way its already thinned.

You should try the Pactra acrylic. It sprays finer and smoother than the faskolor stuff just like the solvent paints. and is cleaned with water based cleaners.
I use a mix of these two paints, using the pactra for the fades.

I did wonder how you managed to get such fine fades with the faskolor as it always made the spray pattern out of my airbrush look like it was done with a bad industrial airgun My post was also a reply to griff, ie i used pactra paint thinner to clean the airbrush when using spaz stix, think there was some crossed wires there.

Never used pactra paints myself but i may give it a go if i get back into painting over summer, i don't have anywhere to do it indoors so the weather over winter stops me doing anything decent really
