Default GTB in a B4??

Do you have to remove the fan from the GTB to install it into a B4??

If so, does that cause any heat issues?

Thanks as always

With a std B4 shell you need to take off the fan. You should be OK with a 6.5 if your running nimhs. A few people run a 25mm fan in front of the speedo blowing across the heatsink, this is what I'd recomend

Yeah I squeezed mine in my B4. If you want a pic of wiring layout, I can take a pic for you! I found the 6.5 crazy power inside, and could have easily got away with a 7.5L I reckon!

It will be fine outside! Just a slight handful on the small Leominster track. With LiPO would be hard work with a 6.5!

I can send a pic tommorow from work. I have taken a pic on my phone, but need the use of a mini USB cable.

i have mine without the fan on top. its mounted like mark said on the chassis blowing it over the heatsink. works well plus no chance of the fan losing any blades or anything

6.5 will be pretty tasty but with nimhs it should be fine. Mark is used to whimpy stock motors so you'd expect him to find a 6.5 too much LOL

Easy welshy!! The 6.5 indoors in 2wd was hot enough. Outside its actually a little lacking to be honest, especially with older cells (well in the XX4 it was anyway at Kiddy).

is that duck tape on the battery tray? I assume to stop batteries getting worn against the chassis?

Sorry no idea, I got the car second hand, although it looks like it has a plastic look and feel, like stick on plastic tape/plastic card.

Mark wouldnt your speedo be better the other way round , so the fam blows through the fins on the heatsink and not just into the side of the 1st one ??

I did look at that, but the only way I could still see the setup LED's (which are currently on the left hand side of the speedo) would be if the wires were on the left of the speedo. This meant that both the power wires were in the way of the fan, and they would not go under the shell, since they would have to bend over the top of the already warm heatsink. So far I have not had any problems with heat, and I have not even put any vent holes in the raised part of the shell to release heat.

Don't forget that the LRP and Nosram speedo's ran fine without fans, as did all our old brushed speedo's!!

Hi Dan!

I ran a 6.5L with NIMH's at Hereford last friday, and loved every second of it. I was running with old 3300's in the qualifiers, but used some just-peaked 4200's in the final, and you could REALLY notice the difference in punch.

With the consistency of Lipo's it'd be awesome!

Just took the B4 outside at lunch. 6.5L and a set of GP3700's that arent exactly top of their game.
Didnt feel that fast though
