additional turnbuckle brace between "waterfall" and lipo strap?

I've seen some EVOs with an additional turnbuckle brace between the lipo strap and the top of the "waterfall" piece.

Is this a DIY mod?

Presumably the purpose is to reduce overall chassis flex?

Has anyone done it with the kit plastic lipo strap?
