Lipo or LiPo

So here is a bit of fun, the question is Lipo or LiPo which is it, I veer to LiPo as it is a technical description for a Lihium Polymer battery, so like NiCad we do not in general say Nic^ad which we would if we followd the same derivation as Lipo.

What do you think, or know someone with a degree in the English language would be helpfull here, not me though
