Tyre removal?

Im sick of buying new rims every time i need new tyres so i have got myself a 5 Litre bottle of nail varnish remover.Forgot the technical name. Are you supposed to just cut the tyres off as much as you can and then soak the wheels? For how long?
Was a nightmare getting this stuff in such big quantities because apparently this stuff was used in the London bombings.
