Default ZX5 Spur gears

I've managed to strip 2 Kyosho spurs in two meeting, using Titanium Racing's pinions, which only mesh with approximately half the spurs width. So i'm starting to wonder if i'm putting to much stress on one part of the spur.

Two things I was thinking about trying: -

1. Different pinion

2. B4 spur, I assume that means you have to run the B4 slipper pads and backing plates as well??
