It's tough to decide what constitutes 'vintage' or not. The oople series had the same problem this summer when trying to decide the rules for their RC10 class. The RC10 Worlds edition, from 1991 I think (That has just been re-released) had a stealth gearbox that was able to handle much hotter motors than the standard 6 gear tranny in the Standard RC10 classic.
I think that anything that pre-dates the Losi XX or Associated B2 should be allowed to keep the class authentic. Also, A 10.5 or even 13.5 motor limit would be a good way of keeping things fair as like I said before the gearboxes on the later cars are far more capable of handling faster motors so would be a big advantage over the older cars.
A control tyre would be good too but the problem is that the classic rc10 uses 2" wheels where nearly everything else uses 2.2"
