Is there 2 types of B4 outdrive?

Hey guys. Im trying to build a car based around B4 parts, but cant figure this out. I have a ball diff right here looking at me that I have been told is out of a b4/c4.1, is has a wider part and flange each side for the bearing, this design

But I'm also getting a lot of images of a smooth design with no flanges and no widening, this design


Can anyone tell me which one the right one is/the newer or older design? Thanks
