advice on tight battery in Durango DEX210 RTR

Hi

Just converted sons Durango DEX210 RTR to mid motor, all gone OK but using a standard length battery it is very tight. Without the expense of buying a mid sized length battery i there away of making it fit easier. Does putting the brass mounts in give you a little more room ?
