Default Thunder power getting hot!

I have a thunder power 6.5 that I use with a tekin rs pro that I use in my dex410. I geared it with a 22t pinion. Ran it for 5 minutes and the esc was soo warm that it had loosened from the car (once it shut down) and the motor was about 75 deg C. It felt weak at the bottom and not at all fast down the straight. My old losi motor was faster, I could easily gear it with a 21 gear in my losi xx4 (about the same ration as a 23 gear in the dex410) Anyway I put on a 21t gear and that solved the esc heat problem but made the car even slower down the straight.
I run the esc in dual mode with 100 timing for both motors.

Someone in another forum said he used thermal paste when he installed the stator to get it to run cooler. Any thoughts on this. I meen it's a new motor and it would be just sad if would end up using my old losi motor instead.
