Spektrum DSM DSM2 ?

Have got one of the original Spektrum Modules for my 3VCS which is a DSM Pro.

Are the Spektrum compatible DSM2 ( Orange GR300 ) receivers backwards compatible with DSM or will they only work with DSM2 Modules / Transmitters.
