core rc 13.5 set need help please.

Hi all I'm new to supastox racing I have bought the core rc package with with the battery ESC and 13.5 motor
I'm having problems I have got the standard 46 spur that came with the kit mated up with a 32dp 15 tooth pinion. I must admit it does not feel a great mesh it feels a bit notchy no matter how close or far away it is.

How ever my main problem is the motor has no power it will spin when it's not on the spur but will not move the car when it's meshed up if I push the car it does move but then stops its as if its over geared.
So I removed the spur and set the motor away the pinion still attached to the motor I can hold the pinion and stop the motor from turning extremely easy even if I just press against the pinion slightly the motor stops as if under to to much load.
Is this normal because I have never had experience with a 1 cell lipo set up before or is the motor dodgy
