22 shocks on XX4 - Mods advice

Do you have to make any mods to the 22 big bore shocks to run them on the XX4?

I have just bought a set, sure I heard you do but not 100% what. Maybe lengthen the rear? If this is so can it be done with a different ball cup plus maybe legthening it? Is there a shock length to aim for? Cant find much on the web set up wise

Any help would be awesome
