M05 Motor Choice

I have a 2nd hand unrun M05 that has come with a 20T brushed motor with and perflex ESC, I have a brushless setup (13.5) that is equvalent to a sport tuned tamiya ... I dont know understand the 20T etc ...

Am I better of changing to the brushless straight out the gate? (im not a seasoned driver)

Any advice woould be welcomed ...
